Alfa Laval reveals the new T25 semi-welded plate heat exchanger

In today’s rapidly evolving energy landscape, scalability and efficiency are essential. As clean energy capacity grows, we need solutions that maximise energy efficiency to support sustainable progress. Alfa Laval, a global leader in heat transfer technology, introduces the T25 semi-welded plate heat exchanger—a compact yet powerful innovation designed to meet the demands of the modern energy system.

The T25 heat exchanger plays a vital role in the decarbonisation journey by supporting the scale-up of clean energy sources like green hydrogen, while also delivering benefits to established sectors, including the heating and cooling of buildings, heavy process industries, and power production. The T25 is the first in Alfa Laval’s new line of semi-welded plate heat exchangers, offering a wide range of plate and gasket materials tailored to withstand demanding applications.

Alfa Laval’s semi-welded plate heat exchangers are built for high-performance applications. Engineered to perform under pressure - just like the industries they serve. With unique features that extend gasket lifespan, ensure superior sealing under high pressure, and enhance thermal performance, these exchangers are designed for maximum efficiency. High serviceability boosts uptime and reduces CO2 emissions. When it comes to scaling up clean energy, specifying a heat exchanger where true greatness is measured in performance is essential.

Moreover, maximising efficiency is critical for decarbonisation. For example, as hydrogen production scales, efficient heat transfer solutions become indispensable. Maximising the efficiency and lifespan of electrolysers are critical to making hydrogen competitive. With conventional heat transfer technology in electrolysers, up to 40% of energy is lost in the form of excess heat. By using Alfa Laval plate heat exchanger technology, this excess energy can be reused in hydrogen production, improving overall efficiency. The T25 semi-welded technology helps make green hydrogen more affordable and accessible.

The T25 semi-welded will also be available in a shorter format. Specifically tailored for applications limited by pressure drop, the TS25 is a perfect fit for hydrogen gas coolers.
