Teledyne DALSA Xtium2-CLHS

Highest performance CLHS interface featuring fibre and copper cables.

Teledyne DALSA Xtium2-CLHS

The Xtium2-CLHS PX8 features CameraLink HS standard on the PCI Express™ Gen 3.0 platform. While the Xtium2-CLHS PX8 supports active optical cable (AOC) and industry standard CX4 cables, the Xtium2-CLHS FX8 model allows connection of up to four fibre optic cabling using SFP+ modules.

The Xtium2- CLHS FX8 LC is a two channel frame grabber featuring also fibre optic cabling inputs and introduced for cost-sensitive applications.

The Xtium2-CLHS frames grabber delivers images at maximum input data rate using PCIe x8 slots at a sustained speed above 6.8 GB/s to the host memory. It features high-performance on-board, DataTransfer Engine (DTE) to deliver maximum bandwidth without the need for specialised motherboards or chipsets.

By enabling maximum sustained throughput and ready-to-use image data, the Xtium2-CLHS FX8 minimises CPU usage and improves processing times for host applications. In addition, the Xtium2 series features enhanced memory bandwidth to meet the ever-increasing image resolution and faster frame rates of today’s camera technology.

Secure image data transfer over long distances

The Xtium2-CLHS frame grabber series offers the possibility to connect either active optical cables (AOC) or low cost LC-LC fibre cables in order to transfer image data over distances beyond 100 metres. Optical transmissions are not susceptible to radiated emissions like copper media and simplify radiated emissions compliance.

Connect two highs speed cameras with an optical fibre interface

The Xtium2-CLHS FX8 boards feature CLHS X-protocol for high efficiency transmission. It supports two cameras connected with up to four bidirectional SFP+ modules to delivery aggregate bandwidth of 4.0 GB/s and can reach cable lengths beyond 100 metres.

High-capacity CLHS frame grabber in a compact design

The CLHS protocol offers guaranteed delivery with the lowest latency and jitter of trigger and GPIO messages. Its remote DMA video packet is designed for simple data reconstruction and enables on the fly regions of interest to fully exploit the capability of CMOS sensors. The Xtium2-CLHS offers this as a half-length PCI Express Gen 3.0 x8 Board.

Build up a multi PC system for parallel processing

The data-forwarding feature of the Xtium-CLHS boards refers to a built-in repeater capability to resend images across multiple computers for distributed processing. The incoming images can be redistributed to up to six additional Xtium-CLHS “slave” frame grabbers.

Thanks to the features "board synchronisation" and data forwarding, multi-camera solutions can be developed. Higher material throughput allows more accurate error detection. The family character - 2 models - with different configuration possibilities and interface support the scalability.

The hardware complexity for synchronisation and multi-processing can be reduced, resulting in a design advantage and therefore a competitive advantage of a inspection solution.

Trigger-to-image reliability (T2IR)

Like the Xtium, the Xtium2 features the T2IR framework which helps improve the reliability of the system.
