Siemens acquires provider of virtual training for industrial companies

Siemens has acquired the Swedish service and software company Vizendo AB with headquarters in Gothenburg. Vizendo is a leading provider of virtual operator training for automotive manufacturing. Virtual training enables industrial companies to reduce their training times and launch new products faster and in higher quality. The acquisition took effect as per June 1, 2020.

KUKA has been working with the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (ILT) and other industrial partners on a joint project of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and KIT (Karlsruhe) for integrating hybrid LMD technology into the production chain. The process used is laser metal deposition (LMD), popularly referred to as “3D printing”. KUKA robots form the basis of the system.

Knorr-Bremse, today announced that the company closed the acquisition of R.H. Sheppard Co., Inc., Hanover, Pennsylvania, USA (“Sheppard”) on June 1, 2020. The contract was signed on January 30, 2020. The purchase price amounts to USD $149.5 million. Sheppard is an industry-leading manufacturer of steering systems for commercial vehicles in the North American market. The acquisition of Sheppard marks another important step in Knorr-Bremse’s strategic drive to become a leading global supplier of commercial vehicle steering systems following its earlier acquisition of the Hitachi steering business in 2019.
