Petrobras delivered the first batch of ARLA 32 (Automotive Liquid Reducing Agent) to Araucária Nitrogenados SA – Ansa, the company's wholly-owned subsidiary, in Araucária (PR). ARLA 32 is being produced through a contract for industrialization by order of Yara, a global leader in nitrogen fertilizers, which is responsible for supplying the urea and marketing the final product, according to an agreement signed by the two companies and announced to the market in November 2024. Testing and the start of production began in June of this year, as announced by Petrobras at the time.
This milestone represents Petrobras' resumption of domestic production of ARLA 32 and marks Ansa's first product delivery to the market after the plant's shutdown in 2020. Following approval for the return of operations in June 2024, the plant underwent a series of maintenance interventions to ensure the integrity of the equipment and the plant's readiness for the resumption of production. The urea plant is scheduled to start up in the coming days.
"The fertilizer sector is strategically important to Petrobras. We are resuming investments in this segment, based on technical and economic feasibility studies, with the goal of expanding our gas market and helping to reduce Brazil's dependence on fertilizer imports. Furthermore, with the production of ARLA 32, we are not only diversifying our portfolio, but also contributing an essential product for reducing vehicle emissions and environmental preservation," says William França, Director of Industrial Processes at Petrobras.
The expectation is to reach a monthly production of 3 million liters, with the first deliveries destined for the states of Paraná and Santa Catarina.
