Data Portal Tops the 1 Million Mark Number of monthly downloads reaches new high
The new EPLAN Data Portal record proves high-quality data has become essential for engineering. In June 2016, users downloaded over 1,000,000 device and component data. This clearly demonstrates that there is a great need for manufacturers’ data and that without data integration, engineering can come to a grinding halt.
Monheim, Germany, 26 July 2016 - In just 31 days, over 1,000,000 parts data sets were downloaded, which was a pleasant surprise to even the EPLAN managers. This was something they never expected when they initiated the EPLAN Data Portal eight years ago. By integrating current data directly into their EPLAN Projects using drag and drop functionality, users are saving precious time. Right now there are more than 620,000 device data sets available in the portal, plus more than 1.2 million variants via configuration. The interest in this valuable parts data, which can be used throughout the entire product development process, supports the trend moving towards products and solutions compatible with Industry 4.0.Stefan Domdey, Global Coordinator EPLAN Data Portal, explains: “We´re delighted that our portal is being so outstandingly received around the world and that the number of downloads is continually increasing. This motivates us to integrate additional manufacturers and their device data.” Intense discussions are going on with component manufacturers worldwide in order to incorporate into the portal the industrial stakeholders who aren´t yet participating. So far, the number of manufacturers represented is 147, and is continually growing. In 2016 alone, EPLAN was able to welcome 33 new manufacturers. That equals a growth of 29 percent and includes globally respected brands such as Belden Cable, Cisco, Hyundai Heavy Industries, LSIS, TE Connectivity, Wittenstein and Yokogawa.
