MTS Sensors, a division of MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC), announces the addition of the analog output to its fifth generation of Temposonics® R-Series sensors.

New features and tools make the R-Series V Analog sensors ideal for Industry 4.0 applications. The new sensors are adaptive to a variety of applications and can now evaluate more parameters while the application is running.

The new R-Series V analog output sensor models are more robust, reliable, and accurate than ever before. Due to improved components, all R-Series V sensors support an extended operating temperature range now reaching from -40° up to +85 °C. In addition to this, the resistance to shock has been increased to 150 g and vibration up to 30 g. The new analog output models provide 16-bit resolution for position and optional velocity measurements. Now with enhanced diagnostics, 3-color LED display, and advanced field programming, these sensors are easier than ever to integrate into harsh applications while providing precise measurements.

The Temposonics® R-Series V sensors are currently available in two types: rod style and profile style. In addition to the new analog version, other models support EtherCAT, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Powerlink, and SSI (Synchronous Serial Interface) outputs.

Expanding upon its previous release of R-Series V SSI, MTS now offers the SSI and the new analog output sensors with integral cable options suitable for harsh environments with ingress protection of IP68 and robustness to shock and vibration. The new integral cable options include multiple material choices for differing applications, including a standard PVC jacket, standard oil-resistant Polyurethane (PUR) jacket, a PUR jacket with high-performance EMI shielding or a Teflon jacket.

R-Series V Analog sensors are supported by the TempoLink Smart Assistant. The assistant is an optional accessory for all R-Series V sensors and is connected via the power connection to the sensor. With the TempoLink Smart Assistant, detailed information about the condition of the application, such as sensor status, internal temperature, total operating hours, distance traveled by position magnets and more, can be relayed and evaluated via USB port or a wireless device.

The new generation sensors are completely backward compatible due to their proven electrical and mechanical connections and designs. The R-Series V delivers the well-known high performance and quality of previous R-Series generationscombined with advanced features and more intelligent functions.

“The R-Series V Analog Model represents our highest performance Industrial sensor available having analog type outputs” explains Matt Hankinson, PhD., Global Market Segment Leader at MTS Sensors. “By adding this output to our newest generation R-Series V platform along with the integral cable options, we can better support customers in a wider range of high-performance industrial applications.
