Baumer HOG 86 encoder series for the highest requirements: Tough and precise

Baumer capitalized on its more than 50 years of experience in the HeavyDuty area when developing the HOG 86 series. With this complete product line of encoders, the sensor specialist is presenting yet another robust solution for harsh and demanding ambient conditions.

Baumer HOG 86 encoder series for the highest requirements: Tough and precise
The redundant, optical incremental encoder with a protection class of IP 66 is also characterized by an incredibly resistant housing with a wall thickness of at least 10 mm. It features a special coating that ensures Class C4 corrosion protection. An additional partition makes sure that the scanning unit and electronics of the HOG 86 do not come in contact with dust or humidity when the terminal box is opened during the installation or wiring process.

The bearings of the new hollow shaft encoders are protected from damages caused by inductive shaft currents. The HOG 86 is also available in a durable hybrid bearing version. This enables the encoder to achieve an exceptionally long service life of up to 100,000 hours, while still being reliable at operating temperatures between -40 and +100 degrees. Installation flexibility and simplicity are added advantages of the HOG 86. A terminal box that can be rotated 180 degrees and various installation options make the encoder very easy to install.

With the HOG 86, Baumer has also combined precise measurements with additional safety. The optionally available integrated Enhanced Monitoring System (EMS) continuously monitors all encoder functions across the entire speed range. If an error occurs, the system triggers warning messages that are displayed right on the device itself. This speeds up the troubleshooting process, which in turn helps everything get up and running again quickly and safely and prevents costly downtimes.
