EPLAN’s Data Portal 2.1 has been released and now can it can also be “viewed” on the EPLAN corporate website (http://www.eplanusa.com/products/eplan-data-portal). The EPLAN Data Portal 2.1 has even more data, more manufacturers and more functions than ever. With almost a quarter million components and device data from nearly 50 manufacturers, this Online Portal is continuing to grow and expand its database. Over 25,000 EPLAN customers are benefiting from access to the latest up-to-date data, error-reduction and increased functionality and it has over 10 million downloads worldwide, the EPLAN Data Portal is setting records worldwide via the Internet.

The EPLAN Data portal not only provides you with the master data of major manufacturers but also contains schematic macros, multilingual parts information, preview images, documents and much more. Now anyone can have viewing rights to the EPLAN Data Portal to obtain part information via an Internet browser but you have to be an EPLAN user (on current SMA) to be able to access the live data and import parts/macros into the component library so you can literally drag & drop parts/macros into your design with ease.

New to the EPLAN Data Portal 2.1 is the capability for a manufacturer’s product configurator to be linked directly to the EPLAN Data Portal. Not only can the manufacturer store their standard parts data on the Online Portal but for components that are changing rapidly, they can link their product configurator so that complex products can be directly imported to the EPLAN Data Portal and be used within the EPLAN Platform for schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, etc. Saving customers from having to create each piece from scratch, which are a huge time-savings and productivity benefit.

For example, Rittal has decided that linking the Rittal Therm configurator is an added benefit to their customers and EPLANs. The Rittal configurator imports calculations and designs of the individual heating, cooling, and air-conditioning solutions for enclosures and housings. You can then determine the required components in Rittal Therm, fabricate them into a solution, and transfer them via the EPLAN Data Portal. Then, the components can be transferred to the device list of the EPLAN platform and can be in the schematic / 3D layout space instantly.

Another example is Endress+Hauser. They have also decided to link their product configurator to the EPLAN Data Portal to give their customers an advantage in their industry. Using the Endress+Hauser’s link within the EPLAN Data Portal, you can access the Endress+Hauser product configurator directly from the EPLAN Data Portal and import the required parts data directly to EPLAN. This will then generate a user-defined parts list within the EPLAN Data Portal. You can then import this parts list into the EPLAN Platform or import it as a device in the graphical editor. This results in dramatic time savings and error-reduction for the customer.
