Knowledge workshop imparts practical metal cutting expertise

Cutting edge, clamping equipment, tool management - a one-day workshop provided by INGERSOLL, SCHUNK and ZOLLER on 07.11.2019 is dedicated to this triad of modern metal cutting.

Knowledge workshop imparts practical metal cutting expertise
After several exclusive events with customers, the three metal cutting specialists are now opening the knowledge workshop to the public.

The practical event, which will take place in the morning at INGERSOLL in Vaihingen-Horrheim, and in the afternoon at SCHUNK in Lauffen am Neckar, will present means of optimizing the overall system consisting of tool, toolholder, tool setting and workpiece clamping device for the individual application. It is aimed equally at machine operators and programmers who are directly involved in metal cutting.

"It is our goal to get the participants ready for their daily work with the machine tool, but also for the planning, selection, and optimum use of the cutting edges and clamping device, on the basis of the latest knowledge of metal cutting," emphasizes Urban Engelhardt, Deputy Managing Director of the South Branch at INGERSOLL.

According to Johannes Ketterer, Executive Vice President Clamping Technology at SCHUNK, the event makes an important contribution to reducing costs and increasing efficiency in production: "Numerous live demonstrations will make it clear where potentials are hidden in everyday applications, and how this can be economically opened up."

The analysis of chip formation is on the agenda as much as the use of measuring systems or the influence of toolholder technology on the metal cutting result. Participants can also bring their own questions to the practical workshop in a conversational way.

Bernd Schwennig, Technical Director Sales at ZOLLER, sees this as the decisive advantage: "The knowledge workshop combines theoretical content with specific insights into operational practice and thus enables a fast and efficient transfer of knowledge".
