ScandMist 100R OEM MD: new separator for manufacturers of machining centers

MANN+HUMMEL has extended its range of oil mist and oil smoke eliminators. The new ScandMist 100R OEM MD is fitted directly to the enclosure of the machining center. It was designed for emissions below 25 mg/m3 and therefore covers almost all applications.

The compact separator requires little maintenance and has an energy-efficient EC Motor. Two pressure gauges enable predictive maintenance. In total the new separator reduces the total cost of ownership in comparison to electrostatic separators.

Ludwigsburg/Sprockhövel, 10.12. 2018. MANN+HUMMEL has extended its product range of oil mist and oil smoke eliminators. The ScandMist 100R OEM MD was developed for manufacturers of machining centers and can be directly fitted to the enclosure of the machine.

It was developed for emissions below 25 mg/m3 and therefore covers nearly all applications. In addition, it is characterized by a compact design.

The separator is designed to handle an oil mist flow rate of 1,000 m3/h and an emulsion mist flow rate of 2,000 m3/min. An industrial connector simplifies the electrical connection. The standard availability of input and output signals allows the remote operation of the filter, e.g.

when the machining center is switched on. Two output signals can also be individually programmed to display an imminent filter change.

MANN+HUMMEL oil mist and oil smoke eliminators are equipped with an energy-efficient EC motor with resistance control which minimizes noise emissions. The separators require little maintenance and two gauges enable predictive maintenance.

These two advantages clearly differentiate ScandMist from the electrostatic separators which are mostly used today. Electrostatic separators have to be cleaned approximately every 6 weeks and frequently fail without warning. The MANN+HUMMEL solution reduces the total cost of ownership for operators in comparison to other systems available on the market.

The mechanical separator from MANN+HUMMEL consists of three filter stages. These are a prefilter, a coalescence separator and a H13 class HEPA filter. In the three stages, 99.95% of the aerosol is separated.

The filter is easy to service because the filtration stages are accessible via one door and with a simple operation of the clamping device all 3 filter stages can be replaced. The additional air inlet port at the bottom removes the need for high ducting costs.
