UrmO – A startup aims at revolutionizing urban mobility

UrmO is the vehicle of the future. Felix Ballendat, Jakob Karbaumer and Sebastian Signer are going to start their crowdfunding campaign on 08 October 2018 in order to enter serial production of the handy self-balancing scooter.

UrmO – A startup aims at revolutionizing urban mobility
UrmO was created by founders Felix Ballendat, Jakob Karbaumer and Sebastian Signer, who currently revolutionize urban traffic. The three inventors developed and built the prototype of the personal light electric vehicle UrmO. Now, they are planning serial production. Once the crowdfunding campaigns on the platforms Kickstarter and Indiegogo have been successfully finished, production is expected to be ready in early 2019.

Furthermore, the startup is looking for strategic investors to push the development of the UrmO even further and to develop the next model.

Product: UrmO – the most thrilling mobility project of the year

In the future, urban residents can avoid traffic jams with the UrmO. The UrmO is an electric vehicle, which can be folded to handbag-size format within seconds, thanks to the patent-pending folding mechanism. Small, handy, light: These features clearly distinguish the UrmO from all other vehicles in its segment.

Thanks to its light weight of just 6.5 kilogram (13 lbs), the e-scooter can be perfectly integrated into everyday life and can be easily stowed e.g. under the desk in the office. The self-balancing scooter is recharged with a regular power outlet and provides a high range. UrmO drivers can cover 20 kilometres (12 miles) with one charging.

Within just 45 minutes, the battery can be charged to almost 100%. Maximum speed is 15 km/h (9.5 mph). By shifting weight, drivers intuitively steer the UrmO. The 14-inch tires guarantee a comfortable and safe driving experience. The founders promise that within ten minutes everybody is able to steer UrmO safely.

Team and financing: expertise in the e-mobility market

The UrmO team distinguishes itself with a profound expertise in the innovative e- mobility market. Felix Ballendat, mechanical engineer, has already developed a battery pack for Tesla and Jakob Karbaumer, also mechanical engineer, with his 24 years of age, is the youngest founder of UrmO and has been developing the battery of the world’s first electric supercar, the Rimac Concept One.

Sebastian Signer, who has a background as entrepreneur and business consultant, is responsible for the development of the company. Currently the UrmO team has seven employees with increasing trend. Right until now, UrmO was completely bootstrapped, but that should change soon. After the crowdfunding campaign the founders want to acquire strategic investors as well as public investors to push the project.

Vision and goals: the UrmO drives on all major cities’ streets

The first prototypes were developed in 2017. In the meantime, the test period is finalized and UrmO fans can grab an UrmO via the crowdfunding campaign from 8 October on Kickstarter and later on Indiegogo. The vehicles will be delivered until end of 2019. In the future, UrmO plans to expand to the European market to develop to a market leader within the next few years.

Until then, UrmO has a busy schedule. Copenhagen, Paris or New York: the innovative company presents its electric vehicle at all relevant international mobility summits. Demand is huge.
