XP Power launches 85W & 120W desktop power supplies with latest energy-efficiency standards and IT & medical safety approvals

XP Power today announced new 85 & 120 Watt single-output high efficiency desktop power supply series that meet the latest global energy efficiency standards for external supplies.

XP Power launches 85W & 120W desktop power supplies with latest energy-efficiency standards and IT & medical safety approvals
The ALM85 & ALM120 use less energy in both operating and standby mode, helping to reduce environmental impact.

Meeting the latest international Energy Efficiency Level VI and CoC Tier 2 standards, applicable for the US, UK and Europe, the ALM series also has both medical and ITE safety approvals targeting IT, industrial and healthcare applications, as well as compliance with 4th edition EMC testing standards for medical devices.

The latest Level VI and CoC Tier 2 international standards set the requirements for average active mode efficiency, measured at 25, 50, 75 & 100% load, a minimum efficiency at 10% load and a maximum power consumption at no load. The ALM series meets all of these requirements with a comfortable margin.

The ALM85 has four models with output voltage choices of either 12V/6.67A, 15V/5.33A, 19V/4.47A or 24V/3.54A, and for the ALM120 outputs are 12V/10.0A, 15V/8.0A, 19V/6.32A or 24V/5.0A. All models are tightly regulated and have the ability to work in a wide range of environments with an operating temperature range from 0°C to +60°C with no output power derating up to +40°C. Both housings are a slim and compact design, the ALM85 has a profile of only 37.0mm high and footprint of 135.0 x 62.0mm, the ALM120 profile is 38.0mm high with a footprint of 171.0 x 68.0mm.

The models also come in Class I and Class II versions, providing designers with a choice of input earth schemes. In addition, there is an optional AC input cord retention clip for Class I models, which provides extra protection to prevent the input power connector being disconnected at the power supply.

As well as meeting 4th edition medical EMC requirements, the series meets Level B EN55032 standards for both radiated and conducted emissions and also has an IP32 environmental rating providing protection from foreign objects and exposure to liquids. ALM series power supplies are suitable for use in a wide range of sectors including automation and process control, instrumentation, broadcast, communications and healthcare applications, as well as other specialist equipment.

The ALM85 and 120 series is available from Allied Electronics, Digi-Key, element14, Farnell, Newark, RS Components, approved regional distributors, or direct from XP Power and come with a 3-year warranty.
