Schneider Electric Introduces New Charge Pro in the U.S

Schneider Electric has announced an upgrade to Schneider Charge Pro, its Level 2 commercial electric vehicle (EV) charger engineered for commercial properties and fleets in the United States. The updated hardware and software platform aims to assist property owners, site hosts, and fleet managers in scaling EV charging infrastructure while addressing power availability constraints and energy costs.

Platform Architecture and Charging Station Management
Schneider Charge Pro targets commercial applications across multi-unit dwellings (MUDs), corporate workplaces, destination and public parking facilities, and commercial fleet depots. The platform integrates hardware, cloud management software, and field support services to reduce deployment complexity and increase system availability across multi-site installations.

The commercial EV charger pairs with EV Connect Software+™, a cloud-based charging station management system (CSMS). This software interface enables site operators to track station performance, manage user access controls, and monetize charging services across distributed geographic locations.

Initial charger activation includes one year of EV Connect Software+™ access, supported by proactive hardware monitoring and driver assistance services. The physical charging hardware carries a five-year manufacturer warranty. Shawn Bonacorsi, Head of Electrification Solutions for North America Operations at Schneider Electric, stated that property and fleet operators require integrated, reliable charging architectures that reduce operational complexity and optimize total cost of ownership over time.

Operational Features and Connector Options
The upgraded Schneider Charge Pro platform incorporates specific operational and interface capabilities:
  • Built-in Charging Management Software: Embedded integration with EV Connect Software+™ for remote telemetry monitoring, access authorization, energy usage tracking, and automated driver support.
  • Commissioning Process: A simplified commissioning procedure designed to streamline installation workflows and reduce site activation timelines.
  • Web-Based Session Activation: Web-based session activation via QR code scanning, allowing drivers to initiate charging without installing a mobile application or creating a user account.
  • Cybersecurity Framework: Hardware and firmware developed according to Schneider Electric’s industrial cybersecurity practices to protect station operations and networked data.
  • Expanded Physical Interfaces: Support for both SAE J1772 and North American Charging Standard (NACS) connectors, featuring flexible power configurations up to 80 A to accommodate diverse commercial vehicle platforms.
Electrical Infrastructure and Network Integration
Engineered for integration with broader electrical grid systems, Schneider Charge Pro interfaces directly with Schneider Electric’s electrical distribution portfolio. Linking the charging system with panelboards, switchgear, and circuit protection equipment allows site hosts to manage electrical demand, execute dynamic load balancing, and optimize available power capacity as site charging requirements expand.

Deployment is supported by certified installation partners, including Qmerit, to provide coordinated engineering and installation workflows. The upgraded Schneider Charge Pro Level 2 charger is available through Schneider Electric’s distribution partners, electrical installers, and EV infrastructure integrators.
