Alleima Secures Milestone Order for High-Temperature Alloy in Americas

Alleima, a global manufacturer of high value-added products in advanced stainless steels and special alloys, has received its first order in the Americas for its nickel-chromium alloy, Alleima® TD, marking a major step in the company’s strategy to expand its high-temperature materials offering globally.

The order from M.I. Cable Technologies, a leading manufacturer of mineral insulated thermocouple cable, follows a highly successful customer trial and underlines the market’s need for alternative, reliable sources of premium alloy supply.

Engineered by Alleima in response to growing global demand for high-temperature, corrosion-resistant alloys in mineral-insulated cable (MIC) production, Alleima® TD is the result of intensive R&D. It offers exceptional corrosion resistance in oxidizing conditions and maintains mechanical strength at elevated temperatures - up to 1250 °C and beyond. The new nickel-chromium grade is a practical and important expansion to Alleima’s high-temperature portfolio, developed to meet real-world industry needs. Alleima® TD is ideal for thermocouple sheathing, heat tracing, and other mineral insulated cable (MIC) applications across sectors such as aerospace, automotive, aluminum production, and refineries.

“This order marks an important milestone, not only for our high-temperature portfolio but also for Alleima’s ability to respond to real customer needs globally. For years, customers have had limited sourcing options for materials like Alleima® TD. We have now proven we can deliver a product that performs and is available with local responsiveness, greater security of supply, and the service customers deserve,” says Johnnie Sommer, Product Manager - High Temperature Portfolio at Alleima.

The initial engagement with M.I. Cable Technologies began in 2022 when Alleima’s U.S. team, supported by global R&D efforts, initiated a market trial. The material delivered exceptional results in the trials, requiring no recalibration or changes to production equipment, which was a decisive factor in the customer's procurement decision.

“Our collaboration with the customer reflects what is possible when R&D and commercial teams come together to address an industry-wide challenge, This customer-centric innovation represents more than a success for our team – it demonstrates to the wider market that Alleima can meet customer’s requirements, offer high-quality alternatives and help support long-term demand with supply chain flexibility, competitive lead times and strong technical support,” says Laura Rioja-Monllor, Senior R&D Engineer at Alleima.

In response to growing international demand across MIC and thermocouple sectors, Alleima plans to support continued expansion of Alleima® TD availability through local production capabilities and stockholding. Customers will benefit from shorter lead times, reliable product performance, and full traceability through Alleima’s integrated production chain.

Initial stockholding hubs are being developed in key regions, including Europe, with flexible quantities and quicker turnaround to better serve customers. This positions Alleima as a dependable partner in an increasingly time-sensitive, quality-critical market. By reinforcing Alleima’s supply chain with regional flexibility and robust product quality, it provides customers with the confidence to scale without compromise.

Based on leading materials technology and long-term customer partnerships, Alleima develops products for the most demanding applications and industries. This includes products like seamless steel tubes for the oil and gas and chemical and aerospace industries. The company also produces precision strip steel for white goods compressors and air conditioners. This includes ultra-fine wires for medical, industrial electric heating technology and coated strip steel for fuel cell technology for cars, trucks, and hydrogen production.
