Variohm EuroSensor offers component overmoulding service
Towcester – UK: As part of a broad range of manufacturing capabilities, Variohm EuroSensor includes thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) overmoulding for many of its sensor products and is able to provide this service on a sub-contract basis for other manufacturers. The injection moulding process offers product performance advantages for small electronic or electromechanical components such as IP rated water resistant sealing and electrical insulation as well as much improved shock and vibration resistance. It is also possible to embed mechanical fixings and other components as part of the overmoulding process.
Variohm EuroSensor currently includes TPE overmoulding for its Euro XPD range of rotary sensors and temperature probes within its ETP range. Both these product types share excellent environmental endurance and are used in challenging applications such as motorsports and medical equipment where high-reliability is an unconditional requirement. Demonstrating the wide variety of base materials for the process, the substrate materials for these two products are machined rigid thermoplastic and stainless steel. The process suits smaller batch quantities of in the order of 100 pieces after tooling charge and full component test facilities can be included.
The Variohm EuroSensor engineering team can provide full support and tooling design for this service from initial ideas through to production.
