EOS has been producing AM hardware, software and materials in North America for nearly two decades, and already has a well-established procurement process, QA process and ISO 9000 certification in place.
“We already produce the INTEGRA P 450 polymer AM system in our Pflugerville facility and have been engineering and manufacturing polymer materials through our Advanced Laser Materials (ALM) group in Temple, Texas. Our years of proven quality and manufacturing expertise will help ensure we continue to meet our customers’ high expectations for both quality and performance of the EOS M 290.”
Kent Firestone, senior vice president of operations, EOS North America
With more than 2,000 units installed worldwide, the EOS M 290 is the company’s most widely adopted metal AM offering for industrial 3D printed applications in medical, aerospace, tooling and energy verticals, and the system has earned multiple awards and accolades. Initially, Texas assembly will be specific to the EOS M 290 single laser:
- Equipped with a 400w precision fiber laser and a focus diameter of approx. 100 µm (0.004 in)
- Build area of 250 x 250 x 325 mm (9.8 x 9.8 x 12.8 in)
- Scan speed up to 7.0 m/s (23 ft./sec)
The largest material compatibility portfolio on the market including aluminum, case hardening steel, cobalt chrome, copper, nickel alloys, stainless steel, titanium and tool steel.
“In-region production is becoming more important to the end-users of our technology. The ‘Texas Built’ EOS M 290 will be another step in our fulfillment of that requirement, and we plan to expand on our U.S.-based manufacturing in the next few years.”
Glynn Fletcher, president of EOS North America
