GSMA MWC Shanghai 2024 to welcome global thought leaders and companies
MWC Shanghai to return to the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) and Kerry Hotel Pudong Shanghai, welcoming exhibitors, partners, sponsors and speakers from around the world.

The GSMA shared an update about speakers and global companies participating in GSMA MWC Shanghai 2024, during a pre-event press conference hosted today.
Speaking on stage, CEO of GSMA Ltd., John Hoffman, and Head of Greater China at the GSMA, Sihan Bo Chen, revealed first-time exhibitors Amazon Web Services, Bharti Airtel, iFLYTEK, NIO, Shanghai Spacecom Satellite Technology and Xiaomi. The GSMA also celebrates the return of exhibitors and sponsors from countries such as China, Germany, India, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and the US.
Returning exhibitors and sponsors include China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, China Broadnet, AMD, CICT, Fraunhofer ISS, H3C, HONOR, Huawei, Lenovo, Metalenz, Qualcomm, Rohde & Schwarz, STMicroelectronics, XReal, ZTE and ZTT.
John Hoffman, CEO of GSMA Ltd., said: “MWC Shanghai is a golden opportunity for innovators, creators, policymakers and business leaders from the connectivity ecosystem to drive positive change, showcase the latest products and services, and create unmissable experiences. In addition to exhibitors, the GSMA unveiled this year’s line-up of keynote speakers. Over the course of the event, the MWC Main Stage will welcome China Mobile’s Chairman, Yang Jie; China Telecom’s Chairman & CEO, Ke Ruiwen; China Unicom’s Chairman, Chen Zhongyue; Axiata Group’s CEO Telecoms Business & Group EVP, Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya; GSMA’s Director General, Mats Granryd; GSMA’s CMO, Lara Dewar; Global Telecom’s President and CEO, Ernest Cu; HONOR’s CEO, George Zhao; Huawei’s Executive Director, David Wang; ITU’s Deputy Secretary General, Tomas Lamanauskas; Qualcomm’s CFO & COO, Akash Palkhiwala; Singtel’s Deputy CEO, Anna Yip; Sun Media Group’s Chairperson, Yang Lan; and ZTE’s CEO, Xu Ziyang.
The press conference was hosted ahead of the GSMA-China Telecom Open Gateway Hackathon which begins on 25 June, the day before MWC, under the hackathon theme of Infinite Innovation, Connected Convergence. Leading software developers will compete over 48 hours to transform the capabilities of telecoms services into innovative solutions for business and social impact. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Day 3 of MWC Shanghai at the Open Gateway DevCon, which will showcase the rising potential of network APIs through keynotes, case studies and demonstrations.
Sihan Bo Chen, Head of Greater China at the GSMA, said: “China is the world’s largest 5G market, with 5G connections expected to reach 1 billion by the end of the year. And now China is laying the groundwork for 5G-Advanced. As our world moves towards digital everything, MWC Shanghai is at the frontier of cross-industry digital transformation, attracting players from all corners of the global connectivity ecosystem.”
Experience the power of connection
MWC Shanghai will take place under the umbrella of the Future First event theme, bringing industries, continents, technologies and communities together to realise the future’s potential. The agenda will be centred around the event’s three sub-themes – 5G & Beyond, which explores the role of 5G as a catalyst for building intelligence at the network edge; AI Economy, which looks at the potential of generative AI to bring a new level of interaction between people and computers; and Manufacturing DX, which delves into the digital strategies driving increased factory efficiency and production performance.
Keynotes at MWC Shanghai will include:
- Keynote 1: Future First with Open Gateway (26 June from 9:00-10:30am)
- Keynote 2: AI First (26 June from 12:00-1:00pm)
- Keynote 3: Innovation First (27 June from 10:00-11:00)
Partner Programmes will begin on "Day 0" on 25 June and run through to the end of the event in the Kerry Hotel Pudong Shanghai. Speakers at the sessions will explore the latest industry insights, launch new product and services, and run demonstrations and workshops; among the companies hosting sessions are China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, Huawei, GTI, Ruijie Networks, World Broadband Association and ZTE.
