Metrios to shine light on new way of measuring at IMTS 2022

Metrios, a leading European manufacturer of optical measuring machines, is attending the IMTS exhibition (September 12-17 2022, Chicago) for the first time, marking the company’s debut appearance in the US market. From booth 135557 (East Building, Level 3), Metrios is showcasing a number of innovations that can help companies to optimize their measuring process and deliver genuine competitive gain.

As a specialist in digital optical measuring solutions, Metrios offers a number of differentiators that set it apart from competitors. By way of example, for all companies looking to digitalize their measuring process but are tired of products that do not meet their specific needs, Metrios offers a consultancy approach and the potential to customize solutions in a short period of time. By developing its software in-house and choosing to use high-quality components, Metrios can combine high-level performance and tailor-made solutions that help to enhance quality and productivity.

Metrios products on show at IMTS 2022 will highlight how objective digital measurements eliminate human error and reduce rejects.

The Metrios optical measuring machine, for example, is ideal for the simple, instant, and repeatable measurement of small and medium parts, offering a quick return on investment. Performing accurate and objective quality tests at incoming goods stage or during final inspection, the Metrios collects data about production trends. An easy-to-read panel allows the operator to extract/check parameters in advance to keep production in tolerance. Doing so leads to considerable reductions in machine downtime and manufacturing waste, helping to increase throughput and cut costs.

Metrios will also showcase the Metrios Cross at IMTS 2022. Booth visitors will be able to discover the performance of a high-end optical measuring machine featuring 21 MP camera, linear motors and a multi-touch screen. The Cross range offers high resolution across its entire wide field of view (265 x 200 mm), making it ideal for large parts and multi-piece measurements where customers benefit from a single instrument that delivers both speed and precision.

For any company that manufactures or assembles micro-components, the exhibition will also provide a platform for the Metrios HD (high-definition) Cross, which offers a resolution that is unique within its category for critical applications like watchmaking, medical parts, and micro-mechanics.

Another innovation on show will be the most recent addition to the Metrios range. The Metrios Re-Light allows users to place a part on the stage or clock it on the fourth rotary axis, thus providing a complete solution for components of all shapes – flat and cylindrical – that require measuring on multiple sides in a single cycle.

By providing the potential to obtain both static and dynamic rotational measurements, Re-Light users not only enjoy short cycle times, but also the assurance that these times will be repeatable. Further notable features include guided part orientation for more precise positioning, and the ‘Re-Light’ function to position awkwardly shaped parts that would otherwise not sit comfortably on the measuring surface.

Accuracy is assured on all Metrios models thanks to the use of a high-resolution camera and three different yet complementary lighting systems. Customers also gain from all of the established benefits associated with non-contact measuring systems, such as highly accurate dimensional measurement in seconds, and suitability for parts that are too sensitive for measurement using a tactile probe.

Manufactured in Italy, every Metrios measuring machine includes an industrial 17-inch multi-touch screen for clear visibility and simple operation. The user-friendly interface is intuitive and suitable for users of all skill levels, while ‘Multi-Gesture Technology’ makes daily tasks quicker and easier.

Production methods have changed, which is why companies need to change their way of measuring. Find out how on the Metrios booth at IMTS 2022, where a friendly and experienced team of experts will be on hand to discuss any specific components or projects.
