Solider Protection
Morgan has combined years of experience and product development to create the LASA system
(Lightweight Armour Soldier Architecture) incorporating 3 key areas:
Head System
Our helmets contain the latest generation material technology providing approximately 30% weight savings over the current standard in service products. All helmets are fitted with integrated helmet liner and four point chin strap maximising stability and operational security during impact scenarios. Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE ) hybrid delivers the rigidity of aramid solutions providing exceptional blunt trauma protection. Our innovative bracket system accommodates multiple accessories including visors, mandible guards, and night vision goggle (NVG) without the need for additional drilling of the shell. The helmet is designed to interface with the torso system enabling unimpeded weapons operation in all fire positions.

Helmets
MK7
The MK7 is the combat assault helmet used by British forces in Afghanistan. It is compatible
with head-mounted devices including weapon sights, visors and communications systems,
and provides unparalleled protection from blunt trauma and fragment threats thanks to a unique aramid construction.
AC904
The AC904 utilises the latest generation of material to offer the same performance as the
AC903 helmet but with the added benefit of a 30% weight saving (400g saving).
AC905
The AC905 is a high cut version of the AC904 providing greater situational awareness at the lowest weight possible and allows integration of head mounted equipment.
AHUH
The AHUH is one of a family of advanced helmet designs for crew and use in helicopter and fixed wing aircraft. The visor assembly affords excellent wind blast protection, is extremely rugged and has a proven low life cycle cost profile. Aramid Composite High Pressure Moulded Shell construction results in an impact performance which meets BS 6658 Type A in primary impact areas. Omnifit design enables wearer to become operational within seconds.

Surveillance
Whether on sea, land, air or in space, surveillance is a vital part of security and defence. Morgan’s products are helping improve the efficiently and technological development of critical equipment that has become commonplace in the modern world. From engineered and metallized ceramic parts from our Technical Ceramics business used in TWT, klystrons and magnetrons; to stacks of metallized ceramic rings used in image intensifiers helping improve the ability to see objects/people in the night, Morgan is at the forefront of surveillance technology.
Security Scanners
Metallised aluminas from Morgan enable security scanners that have become a critical part of international border security to opérate with higher accelerating voltages. As a result, equipment
manufacturers can build smaller x-ray tubes with far greater resolution and faster throughput speed for luggage, cargo and parcel inspection.
Diamond like carbon and DiamondShield™ coatings
Under our Diamonex® brand Morgan manufacutures diamond-like carbon (DLC ) and other nanocomposite coatings for wear-resistance and shatter-resistance in military and security applications. DLC is a super-hard, low friction coating with properties approaching natural diamond. It is used for aerospace engine hard parts and on actuators to extend the wear life
and reduce the friction.
Other nanocomposite materials are used for
scratch and chemical resistance on aircraft windscreens to extend their life and reduce hazing effects.
Our high clarity DLC is also used on scanner glass and CCD cameras for security visioning systems in applications such as high speed data capture at border crossings, Passport scanning and airport security scanning.
Braze alloys and brazing solutions
for defence applications Our Wesgo Metals brand is a global leader in brazing technology, with decades of experience solving the complex challenges faced by the Security and Defence sector with high reliability, value-added solutions.
In addition to our high quality braze alloys, our Ultinex™ active brazing technology reduces the typical brazing process from five steps to just one,
resulting in reduced lead times and the ability to produce higher performing assemblies with a wider range of ceramics, ceramic matrix composites and metals.

Morgan has established an extensive track record in the design and manufacture of electroceramic products for the security and defence markets, having developed and supplied precise and accurate components for air, land and sea applications for the past 75 years. Our piezoelectric ceramics and transducers are used in highly specialised applications, including sonar, instrumentation and communications systems where performance is critical. Our piezoelectric ceramic components and transducers are an essential part of sonar systems detecting underwater objects and assisting in underwater navigation. Our components, subassemblies and fully encapsulated/sealed transducers provide

Fire protection solutions for military vessels
Morgan provides a wide range of insulation products under our FireMaster® brand, offering tailored fire insulation for Steel bulkhead and decks. Our products are comprehensively certified to meet relevant standards and protect people and structures against fire. Our specially engineered rigid boxes are used within
marine engine rooms to provide insulation, fire protection or a mixture of both depending upon composition.

Ballistic panels / arrays
and vehicle armour
With the ever increasing threat levels on the battlefield
and the need for modern vehicles to be agile without
compromising on survivability, ceramic armour becoming
the material of choice for providing maximum protection at
minimum weight. Our alumina ceramics have been adopted
as an effective solution for some of the world’s toughest
vehicles.
Sintox™ FA and Sintox™ CL tiles are available in a range
of shapes, sizes and thicknesses to meet a particular threat
level and can be supplied either separately or in an array to
suit individual customer requirements and specifications.
Our specialist engineering expertise and manufacturing
capabilities allow custom made panels/ arrays to be
manufactured, which can be delivered direct into integrators
of the ballistic system. Complex shapes for panel design can
be obtained through conventional machining or dedicated
cutting equipment.

Platform Protection

CAMAC® Appliqué Armour
CAMAC® spall armour improves crew and platform survivability through the
mitigation of behind armour effects. Using advanced, lightweight materials
we create bespoke designs to meet specific platform requirements including
shaping to complex geometries and integrating with existing fixtures.
Used in combination with CAMAC® structural or appliqué armour,
our CAMAC® spall armour also offers enhanced protection from IED
and artillery fragments.
CAMAC® appliqué armour provides lightweight, multi-hit protection for existing
platforms against a wide range of threats including small or medium calibre
weapons, improvised explosive devices (IED s) and rocket propelled grenades.
We can design systems for specific requirements including complex platform
geometry and testing to the most exacting standards. We work collaboratively
with our customers to optimise our systems for performance, weight and price.
CAMAC® Spall Armour
CAMAC® spall armour improves crew and platform survivability through the
mitigation of behind armour effects. Using advanced, lightweight materials
we create bespoke designs to meet specific platform requirements including
shaping to complex geometries and integrating with existing fixtures.
Used in combination with CAMAC® structural or appliqué armour,
our CAMAC® spall armour also offers enhanced protection from IED
and artillery fragments.
CAMAC® Structural Armour
CAMAC® structural armour is made from unique composite materials and
resin formulations. It is used in the manufacture of light armoured vehicles and
in aviation and maritime applications. It is 50% lighter than equivalent steel
alternatives with reduced parasitic mass and offers better protection against
behind armour effects. It is upgradeable with CAMAC® appliqué systems to
meet a range of threats and multi-hit requirements. It is fully fire and corrosion
resistant, performs across the full range of environmental conditions and is a key
enabling technology for platforms where weight is at a premium.
CAMAC® Ultra-Light
Semi-Structural Armour
CAMAC® ultra-light semi-structural armour provides effective multi-hit protection
for vehicle-mounted weapon stations and specific aviation and maritime
applications. Its lightweight construction reduces gross platform weight, adverse
centre of gravity effects and electromagnetic compatibility issues.
We design bespoke systems for specific requirements including transparent armour,
overhead protection and collapsible shields, working in close collaboration with our
customers to optimise sight lines and minimise parasitic mass.
Explosive ordnance disposal suits (EOD )
Morgan is a leading supplier of EOD suits for use in high threat environments. Our ERGOTEC suits with integrated cooling system provides
fully body protection whilst retaining maximum freedom of action. The suit includes a blast de-coupling breast plate (4000 series only) and blast
mitigating helmet and collar.
ERGOTEC Textile Components
The textile components of the ERGOTEC suit combine specialist materials with a unique high
integrity design and multilayer construction for excellent fragmentation protection and mobility.
The Nomex® outer skin provides water resistance and fire protection, while the Nomex®
aramid liner provides a high strength ‘blast skin’. The blast plate, of the 4000 suit, is located in the
integrated load carriage. All the seams are specially constructed to resist both rupture and blast
ingress and the suit is user-adjustable at the waist and wrist for optimum fit.
ERGOTEC Helmet and Collar
The unique streamlined profile of the ERGOTEC 4000 helmet affords the wearer better
protection against radial and linear head acceleration during a blast event than standard
designs. It is constructed as a compression moulded shell using multiaxial preform technology
(MAPT) to enhance ballistic and structural strength.
The helmet comes with a built-in heated visor and battery pack, 30mm impact liner and
forced air ventilation. The washable liner can be configured to suit the user’s head shape.
ERGOTEC 4000 Breastplate
The blast de-coupling ERGOTEC 4000 breastplate is made from highly specialised advanced
composite materials that minimise transmission of shockwave energy to the operator’s torso.
Its innovative articulated design is a three-piece telescopic construction that enhances flexibility
with no loss of blast de-coupling capability.
The tubular construction of the trousers and the ‘telescopic’ shoulder and knee sections allow
free movement with full-body ballistic and blast protection.
ERGOTEC Cooling System
Cooling is provided inside the ERGOTEC suit by a built-in battery-powered ventilation
system which fits neatly into pouches at the rear of the suit and provides air to the body
areas sufficient for a one-hour operation. The user is able to control air feeds of up to 250
litres per minute to the back and helmet. Special optimised phase change or dry ice cooling
technologies can be added for use in hotter climates.
Our ERGOTEC EOD suitsare available in two versions
This ERGOTEC 4000 EOD suit offers maximum protection
with minimal hindrance to operator movement allowing
the operator the freedom required to gather forensic
intelligence.
ERGOTEC 3000 EOD
ERGOTEC 3000 is a lightweight EOD search
suit designed to enable extended duration
missions in a high threat environment.
Protection Levels
Behind the extensive development work for our range of EOD
suits is thirty years experience in the design and manufacture of
high technology protective equipment for the UK MOD and
other customers. Our suits are rigorously and thoroughly tested
at every stage of design and manufacture using sophisticated onsite
test techniques to ensure that, in a blast event, the system
remains correctly balanced between helmet and frontal plate.
