SATECO
A supplier of building equipment for construction companies, Sateco is a leader for the design, production and marketing of concrete forming and safety equipment for construction and civil engineering sites and has 2 profit centres (Sateco BTP and Sateco services). But SATECO is also an experienced mechanized welding specialist at the service of major accounts (RATP-BOMBARDIER-OTIS –etc.). SATECO has 2 production plants each relying on Verlinde hoists for handling heavy and cumbersome products.
Sateco is based in Mirebeau, not far from Poitiers. A leader in its market segment, the Mirebeau facility, which is also the company's HQ, annually turns out 111,000m2 of concrete forming materials and more than 6000 m of safety platforms and podiums.Sateco Services
Working closely with Sateco BTP, Sateco Services has at its disposal a 20,000 m² area for storing equipment, rents out concrete forming materials and offers a maintenance service for customers' concrete forming systems and for the reconditioning of Sateco BTP equipment.
The Maillé site close to Mirebeau where Sateco services is set up was formerly industrial waste land and was rehabilitated by the company. As early as the rehabilitation stage of the project, Verlinde hoists were considered vital, for it was essential that equipment should be robust for a tough abrasive and dust-laden environment.
Sateco and Verlinde, a close working relationship
Collaboration between Sateco and Verlinde is nothing new and the installed hoist fleet includes powered chain hoists of the EUROCHAIN VL5 type to shift loads from 125 to 1000 kg, EUROCHAIN VL10 for loads from 500 to 2000Kg and EUROCHAIN VL16 for loads of up to 3000Kg. An essential part of Sateco Services' business is to meet customer needs in the shifting and handling of concrete forming materials, safety platforms and any construction accessories. This role is decisive for productivity. For that reason, the requirement of ensuring a high level of facility of operation and fast, variable speeds for up/down and horizontal travel, makes the ongoing upgrading of lifting equipment essential.
As Edy Bellaud, director of Sateco Services points out: "to upgrade our equipment, we have taken the decision to move to higher models in the Verlinde hoist range as and when replacements are needed and the switch to the EUROCHAIN VR type offers us improved performances, e.g. a 25% increase in up/down travel speed and many improvements in respect of safety and user comfort and convenience. The introduction of hoists is always carried out in close collaboration with Verlinde and recently we had to install two EUROCHAIN VR hoists on a 15 m girder. It would have been unthinkable for us to carry out this difficult operation without Verlinde's advice and recommendations". Edy Bellaud continues: "Sateco works with major French construction and civil engineering groups: Bouygues, Vinci and Eiffage, but also with a great number of SME's which represent 50% of our turnover. These are important Sateco Services customers and a rapid response to their needs is highly important. I would like to add that we also work closely with Germain Transmission, a Verlinde products integrator, which offers precious assistance when we upgrade lifting equipment. Furthermore, they provide a quality after sales service".
