Morgan Advanced Materials highlights ultrasonic flow sensors at European Utility Week 2013

Morgan Advanced Materials will showcase a range of its innovative transducer solutions on stand 4.H19 at the European Utility Week event to be held at the RAI Convention Centre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from 15-17 October 2013.

The event will see the company showcase its expertise in producing components used in domestic smart metering applications for the home to measure consumed utilities, including water-coupled sensors for heat and water metering and air-coupled sensors for gas metering.

Ultrasonic flow sensors are ideal for smart metering of heat energy and water meters. These products can assess the flow measurement of water, by transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves. Time of Flight or Doppler shift flow can be measured by transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves across a liquid channel. Designed using the company’s high-performance piezoelectric materials, the water-coupled sensors are suitable for continuous operation at 16 bar operating pressure and in high temperature environments of up to 120°C.

Morgan will also be displaying a range of ultrasonic sensors developed for gas flow measurement. This technology utilises two or three transducers for smart metering of natural gas or air-coupled level sensing of liquids and solids. Capable of operating in temperatures between -20°C and 70°C in air, and -10°C and 40°C in natural gas, the transducers deliver an assured solution for assessing gas flow measurement.

Additionally, the company has the capability to produce customised transducer designs for a wide variety of applications. Specialist engineers within the business can accommodate a range of requirements, adapting the architecture, manufacturing processes and materials of the sensors to meet individual customer needs. A team of experienced and knowledgeable engineers from the company will be available to discuss the extensive capabilities of the company’s product range.

Morgan will also display its range of high-voltage capacitors, specifically suitable for use in Powerline Communication Coupling applications, enabling data to be safely coupled into the existing electricity distribution networks and grids.
