Successful WIN - Eaton goes Eurasian market
Istanbul … Frank C. Campbell, President Electrical Sector, EMEA: "We really need to make ourselves known here. And basically that's why we are here."
Year after year, professionals from all over the world visit the WIN fair in Istanbul, Turkey. WIN, the World of Industry fair, enables exhibiting companies to get closer to the fast-growing markets in Eurasia and the Middle East. As Frank C. Campbell, President Electrical Sector, EMEA said: "We really need to make ourselves known here. And basically that's why we are here."As one of the leading manufacturers of components and systems for electrical engineering and automation, Eaton was presenting superior electrical solutions at the WIN fair Part 2. It was about participation as an opportunity to get in touch with multinational key players of the fast expanding markets and the neighbouring regions.
Highly interested visitors and specialised press
WIN is the leading trade fair for the Automation, Electrical engineering and Hydraulic or Pneumatic sectors. The Eaton booth was crowded all the time. The visitors and the specialised press were highly interested in the exhibited products. Barış Akdoğan, Eaton’s Sales Manager Turkey: "I was constantly giving guided tours through our portfolio and the booth."
Eaton showed its diversified power management solutions that make electrical, hydraulic and mechanical power operate more efficiently, effectively, safely and sustainably. Among other things, Eaton presented the new PKE 65 motor-protective circuit-breakers with wide-range overload protection at the WIN.
Besides their electrical solutions, Eaton presented SmartWire-DT, a highly advanced communication system for industrial switchgear in control panels and peripherals. “SmartWire-DT was developed by the German industrial group Moeller, which is a part of Eaton's electrical sector since 2008, yielding key technologies and providing insights to its wide range of comprehensive solutions at the World of Industry fair”, Barış Akdoğan explains. “Eaton stands in the tradition of the German-Turkish friendship and the economic relationship of the two countries.”
For mechanical OEMs (MOEMs), like machine builders, Eaton provides with SmartWire-DT unique solutions that help to reduce total cost to design and end user OEMs to reduce total cost of ownership. Beside the products for MOEMs Eaton presented at the WIN fair in Istanbul comprehensive solutions for the construction business like MV- and LV-Power Distribution and Power Quality products.
Eaton “Tech Day”
In June 2012 Eaton is presenting the latest technologies and innovations in Power Management to its customers in Turkey. On the “Tech Day”, Eaton experts will explain more about Eaton’s solutions across the Eaton Electrical, Vehicle, Hydraulics and Aerospace businesses. Seminars will demonstrate with concrete case studies the business benefits of Eaton technologies and solutions in Safety, Reliability and Efficiency.
Interview taken at the Eaton booth: Frank C. Campbell, President Electrical Sector, Europe, Middle East & Africa of Eaton.
Why do you attend to WIN 2012?
Eaton is market leader in North America, number one in share position. To become better known here, Eaton will focus on extending its capabilities on the Eurasian market. For example, in North America Eaton is the one, single most important company responsible to bring down high-voltages like 35kV to the standard consumer voltages of 110V. Now it's up to us to give consumers the 220V in the whole European and Eurasian regions. Participating in the WIN fair, we’re making first steps to establish this market leadership in the EMEA sector.
Also, you just have to take a look at this city. Just count the cranes on the way from the airport to the fair. You'll see, Istanbul is a place, where is happening a lot right now. In the EMEA region we have this vibrant, growing economy, everything is getting bigger and bigger. We really need to make ourselves known here. And basically that's why we are here.
What is Eaton’s vision of “Lean Solutions”?
With the lean solutions concept Eaton is trying to make the machine builders' lives easier. And more profitable, of course. By simplifying complex connections, multiple communication protocols through our SmartWire-DT technology, for example, we're saving them huge amounts of time.
Also the repeatability by setting up the wires gives the MOEMs a "snap together system". This is highly efficient, since any wire just has to be set up once and can then easily be copied as often as needed. As for HMI or PLCs there will be just one integrated architecture, which needs way less debugging than any other solution on the market. In a nutshell, "Lean Solutions" means simple and linear automation, communication, safety and power concepts utilizing fewer components, plug-in SmartWire-DT connections and direct communication.
What about the strategic background for acquiring the German Moeller Group?
Well, the Moeller brand was far better known than Eaton. We sorely needed this company's capabilities to persist in the globalised world. Now we profit by the well known products of Moeller and the strong brand name with its great customer presence and a quite nice market share. This year it's the first time for Moeller products at the WIN, branded as Eaton. By now presenting Eaton as the high-quality manufacturer it is, we're in the stance to act on a global scale.
If you look at our fair presences of the past few years since the acquisition of Moeller, we were green, green-blue, blue-green and finally here we're only in blue. The change of colours is like a symbol of being ready for the globalised world.
