Weidmüller's Power over Ethernet switches: managed and unmanaged 6-port switches with four PoE+ ports. – New PoE+ Industrial Ethernet switches for industrial communication applications.

Weidmüller's product portfolio of Basic Line (unmanaged) and Premium Line (managed) switches includes Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches to meet the needs of industrial communication applications. Managed and unmanaged 6-port switches with four PoE+ ports are available. Utilizing the same cable Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches supply the required operating power to PoE enabled Ethernet components in parallel to data traffic. Typical PoE enabled connectivity components include WLAN access points, IP telephony and IP cameras. Routing data and power transmissions in parallel considerably reduces wiring costs. All PoE switches are operated from 24 V and supply PoE enabled Ethernet devices with up to 30 W of input power. This designed-in feature eliminates the need for an additional 48 V power supply module, which is required for most industrial PoE switches. Moreover, the managed-version supports remote on/off and reset control of connected PoE enabled end devices, for example via SNMP, WEB interface or HMI/SCADA systems in combination with SNMP or OPC. 6-port IEEE 802.3af/at PoE+ managed and unmanaged Ethernet switches boast four integrated IEEE 802.3af/at compliant PoE and Ethernet combo ports. Weidmüller's managed and unmanaged PoE Ethernet switches have extensive international approvals and certificates of conformity such as CE, FCC, UL/cUL Class I Div. 2 / Atex, DNV / GL.

Weidmüller's Power over Ethernet switches: managed and unmanaged 6-port switches with four PoE+ ports. – New PoE+ Industrial Ethernet switches for industrial communication applications.
Weidmüller offers three product families of switches – Basic Line, Value Line and Premium Line – to satisfy all communication requirements in industrial environments. In order to meet the needs of applications in industrial communications Weidmüller's new Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches are available as an unmanaged version in the Basic Line and as a managed version in the Premium Line. Utilizing Power over Ethernet (PoE) allows power to be transmitted via symmetrical cables utilized to transmit data. Consequently, Weidmüller offers appropriate high-end Ethernet switches, its managed and unmanaged versions facilitating universal deployment of its PoE switches. IP telephony and IP cameras are typical PoE enabled connectivity components worthy of mention. Weidmüller's WLAN module, which it is possible to utilize as an access point, client or bridge, has also been designed as a PoE enabled device. This design feature facilitating parallel routing of data and power transmissions reduces wiring costs considerably. Weidmüller's comprehensive programme of passive Industrial Ethernet components includes the right connectors and connecting cables to fulfil PoE cabling specifications.

To facilitate simple integration in standard electrical cabinets it is possible to operate the PoE voltage input from a 24...48 V power supply. The generally required additional 48 V power supply is now superfluous to requirements. Weidmüller's managed and unmanaged PoE switches are fully compatible with the current Power over Ethernet standard (802.3af) as well as the future PoE+ specification (802.3at, 30 W): thanks to increased power rating of 30 W per PoE port it is also possible to operate end devices that require a power input exceeding 15 W. By utilizing Weidmüller's PRO-M and PRO-H power supplies and corresponding diode modules it is also possible to implement a simple redundant power supply solution for applications that demand high levels of availability.

6-port IEEE 802.3af/at PoE+ managed and unmanaged Ethernet switches are equipped with four IEEE 802.3af/at compliant PoE and Ethernet combo ports with up to 30 W of power per PoE port. To round off the high-level of sophisticated functionality the unmanaged version offers intelligent current consumption recognition and rating as well as two redundant 24/48 VDC power supply inputs, whilst the managed version additionally offers functions such as switching on/off PoE ports, status control of PoE end devices as well as alarm signalling and restriction of power consumption to facilitate more control in the field.

Weidmüller's PoE switches are supplied ex works in high quality metal housings rated to IP30. The six ports of the managed and unmanaged PoE switches are designed as follows: 2x RJ45 10/100 BaseT(X) and 4x RJ45 10/100 BaseT(X) PoE+. Switch interface properties of the unmanaged PoE switches are RJ45 ports 10/100BaseT (X) auto negotiation, full/half duplex mode and an auto-MDI/MDI-X port. Clearly visible LED indicators (PWR1, PWR2, 10/100M, PoE) facilitate rapid on-site monitoring. The switch interface properties of the managed version are comprehensive by design: 4 priority queues, max. 64 available VLANs, VLAN ID range: VID 1 to 4094, 256 IGMP groups; MAC table size: 8 K; package buffer size: 1 MBit. Several LED indicators (PWR1, PWR2, FAULT, 10/100M, MSTR/HEAD, CPLR/TAIL, PoE) facilitate rapid monitoring. The alarm contact is implemented via two relay outputs with a current carrying capacity of 1 A at 24 VDC.

Managed PoE+ Ethernet switches support the following standard protocols and functions: IGMPv1/v2, GMRP, GVRP, SNMPv1/v2c/v3, DHCP Server/Client, DHCP option 66/67/82, BootP, TFTP, SNTP, SMTP, RARP, RMON, http, HTTPS, Telnet, SSH, Syslog, Modbus/TCP, SNMP Inform, LLDP, IEEE 1588 PTP and IPv6 as well as Management Information Base (abbrev.: MIB): MIB-II, Ethernet-like MIB, P-BRIDGE MIB, Q-BRIDGE MIB, Bridge MIB, RSTP MIB, RMON MIB Group 1, 2, 3, 9.

All PoE Ethernet switches are easily mounted onto TS35 mounting rails. In addition to reverse polarity protection the modules feature integrated input current overload protection. One removable 4-pin (unmanaged) and two removable 6-pin terminal blocks (managed PoE+ Ethernet switches) are provided for connection purposes.

Extensive international approvals and certificates of conformity such as CE, FCC, UL/cUL Class I Div. 2 / Atex, DNV / GL are testimony to the suitability of PoE Ethernet switches for industrial applications around the globe.
