RS, a global provider of product and service solutions for industrial customers, has expanded its portfolio with MEAN WELL’s new XDR-E and XTR series DIN rail power supplies. The single-phase XDR-E and three-phase XTR series are based on proven MEAN WELL platforms with more than 100 million installations worldwide and have been upgraded to meet evolving requirements across industrial automation, energy management, transportation, building automation, and infrastructure applications.
Compared with previous generations, the new series offer significant improvements in size, efficiency, reliability, and application flexibility. Key enhancements include slimmer form factors for higher cabinet density, lower inrush current to reduce electrical stress, wider operating temperature ranges, expanded output options, additional safety and environmental certifications, and extended warranty coverage.
XDR-E Series: Compact Single-Phase Power Supplies
The XDR-E series is designed as a cost-effective replacement for legacy SDR, NDR, and EDR power supplies. Units are 23–45% smaller, achieve efficiency levels of up to 96%, and cover output power ratings from 75 W to 960 W. New features include a 36 V output option and models offering 12 V at 240 W and 480 W, addressing common market gaps. The operating temperature range extends from –40°C to +70°C, making the series suitable for demanding industrial environments. Typical applications include industrial automation systems such as SCARA robots.
XTR Series: High-Performance Three-Phase Power Supplies
The XTR series replaces the legacy TDR models and delivers improvements across all key performance metrics. These power supplies are 16–28% slimmer, support 320–600 VAC input voltages, and provide 240 W to 960 W of output power with efficiencies up to 96%. Extremely low inrush current, an extended operating temperature range up to +85°C, and certifications for marine, hazardous, and semiconductor environments (including DNV, C1D2, and SEMI47) significantly expand their application scope. A notable addition is the five-year warranty, underscoring long-term reliability. Typical applications include electric vehicle charging stations.
Both series feature comprehensive protection against overload, short circuit, overvoltage, and overtemperature, and comply with a wide range of international standards, including UL, CE, UKCA, IEC 62368-1, IEC 61010-1, and OVC III requirements.
With the introduction of the XDR-E and XTR series, RS and MEAN WELL offer modern, confirmed, and globally compliant DIN rail power solutions that support both new designs and legacy replacements, combining efficiency, compact design, and reliability for today’s industrial systems.
