Test and measurement specialist Rohde & Schwarz and connectivity and sensor component manufacturer TE Connectivity cooperate on testing automotive Ethernet cables and connectors. The two companies have successfully tested a communication link, utilizing Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) cables and TE’s MATEnet data connector system, for compliance with the One-Pair Ethernet (OPEN) Alliance Technical Committee (TC) group 9 test specification for 1000BASE-T1.
Löhnert Elektronik is integrating the R&S QAR imaging tester from Rohde & Schwarz into its new end-of-line test benches for automotive radomes. Now the test benches can reproducibly test the reflection and transmission of these sensor covers over their entire surface at cycle rates of less than ten seconds.
Rohde & Schwarz has integrated the fast time domain scan as standard in its R&S ESW EMI test receiver. It works with double bandwidth to increase measuring speed. Also new is the R&S EWS-K58 multi CISPR ADP option. It precisely shows the effects of interference on digital communication systems. The option accelerates CISPR 11 tests on microwave ovens and could prevail for other product tests in the future.
The R&S IQW100 brings signals from the real world into the laboratory to simulate real-world test environments, used in combination with selected midrange R&S signal analyzers and generators. It follows the successful launch in 2018 of the high-end R&S IQW wideband I/Q data recorder supporting top-of-the range R&S equipment. The R&S IQW100 supports recording and replaying signals with bandwidths up to 200 MHz and sampling rates up to 250 MS/s.
Rohde & Schwarz is continuously extending its portfolio of test solutions for 5G base stations and the associated massive MIMO antenna arrays and amplifiers. Highlights include an OTA test solution with frontend modules specifically for the 5G FR2 range and a solution for speed-optimized tests of 5G base stations. Both are ideal for use in production. There is also a new, innovative test solution that allows developers to perform cross-channel measurements with up to 4x4 MIMO in the FR1 range.
Rohde & Schwarz highlights its innovative 5G conformance solution for both FR1 and FR2, featuring the latest version of the popular R&S TS8980 RF test system, now covering 5G NR. To enable over the air (OTA) testing, the solution includes the new R&S ATS1800C compact antenna test range (CATR) based 5G NR mmWave test chamber.
Rohde & Schwarz and Goodix (CommSolid) are first to demonstrate exhaustive test functions for the newly introduced NB-IoT wake up signal (NWUS), the latest 3GPP Release 15 feature for NB-IoT devices to further reduce power consumption. For NB-IoT long-term monitoring applications, this wake up signal can be leveraged to enable either far longer battery life without upgrading the battery, or as a way to reduce battery size while retaining the device’s service life.
Rohde & Schwarz is paving the way for research in the terahertz frequency range by demonstrating multi gigabit data transmission in the D-Band at 140 GHz. The setup features the R&S FSW high-end signal and spectrum analyzer equipped with an R&S FSW-B8001 option, supporting an unparalleled 8.3 GHz internal analysis bandwidth. This new hardware option will be available soon from Rohde & Schwarz.
Testing 5G NR products requires new T&M approaches, as devices will use a much higher bandwidth, and active antennas make over-the-air (OTA) measurements compulsory. To successfully fulfil and surpass these complex requirements, Rohde & Schwarz has created an innovative portfolio for 5G NR device test solutions. For developers of 5G devices, Rohde & Schwarz features the R&S CMX500 radio communication tester enabling non-standalone (NSA) and standalone (SA) signaling tests now in both FR1 and FR2 frequency ranges.
Today, frequencies below 6 GHz are heavily utilized due to the successful deployment of 4G LTE. This creates a challenge for network operators worldwide on how to deploy 5G NR at these low frequency bands. Dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) is a technique that enables mobile network operators to use LTE and 5G NR in the same frequency band. The in-depth validation of the standardized coexistence methodology is key to the success of this technology. Rohde & Schwarz and MediaTek have leveraged their unique expertises through a collaboration, with the resulting verification that uses the R&S CMX500 5G NR radio communication tester platform by Rohde & Schwarz and a device under test (DUT) provided by MediaTek.
